Introduction: In today’s fast pace world, many students will eat out at a fast food place or restaurant several times a week at least.Due to the dramatic rise in obesity and concerns about nutritional intake, restaurants are now starting to serve healthy meals in addition to their standard fare. Calorie count information has also been added to the menus. When you examine the food ingredients and nutritional content in fast food/restaurant selections, you can choose the healthiest option for yourself.

This assignment is designed to do just that. To help you select healthy food options at your favorite food places.For your information, the following tips are provided to help you choose healthy foods while dining out.

  • Customize: Order sandwiches “your way” (without sauces, mayonnaise, or cheese).
  • Watch the Portions: Order single patties or small sandwiches (e.g., McDonalds Hamburger instead of Big Mac, Jr. Cheeseburger instead of a regular size one).
  • Separate: Order salad with the dressing on the side so you can add an appropriate amount of dressing.Choose a lower fat or reduced calorie dressing.
  • Watch the oils: Order a skinless (grilled) chicken breast instead of breaded or fried.
  • Choose brown over white: Order whole wheat (buns when possible) and ask restaurants to “hold the butter” when toasting them.
  • Don’t fill up on bread: Remove the top of the bun and eat the sandwich “opened faced”
  • In general, for optimal health, avoid fried foods.

Preliminary: Obtain a copy of the nutritional summary brochure for your favorite fast food place and a favorite restaurant. You might find it online, displayed in the restaurant, or perhaps an in person request is necessary. Task: Examine each menu and choose 3 unhealthy foods and 3 healthier foods. You may choose any 3 foods; they don’t necessarily have to be something you would eat all together, but try to compare a sandwich with a sandwich and a side item with another side item.

Example:Let’s say I want to eat at Wendy’s.I could choose:
